Experimental Process

A primer extension assay using an oxyR deletion mutant strain determined the role of OxyR as an activator of terZ transcription. LacZ fusion assays further confirmed this positive regulation. EMSA validated binding of OxyR to the terZ promoter region. The authors predicted two OxyR binding sites in the terZ promoter based on the E.coli OxyR consensus.

Gene Regulation

Regulated genes for each binding site are displayed below. Gene regulation diagrams show binding sites, positively-regulated genes, negatively-regulated genes, both positively and negatively regulated genes, genes with unspecified type of regulation. For each indvidual site, experimental techniques used to determine the site are also given.
