Experimental Process

In silico searches using the tools MEME, MotifSampler & Gibbs Recursive sampler on previously collected microarray data, developed a consensus binding motif for SO2426 and identified potential binding sites. EMSA confirmed binding of SO2426 to the siderophore expression operon so3030-3031-3032. Quantitative phenotypic analysis of siderophore production showed lower expression in SO2426 deletion mutants, confirming that SO2426 acts as an activator.

Gene Regulation

Regulated genes for each binding site are displayed below. Gene regulation diagrams show binding sites, positively-regulated genes, negatively-regulated genes, both positively and negatively regulated genes, genes with unspecified type of regulation. For each indvidual site, experimental techniques used to determine the site are also given.
